Job summary

The University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse 2 - Specialty for the Emergency Department in Miami, Florida. The RN provides patient-family centered care, oversees nurses and allied staff, and supports discharge planning and care coordination.

Eligibility includes a BSN, Florida RN license, and BLS/ACLS/PALS; applicants should bring at least two years of experience and strong communication skills to a fast-paced ED setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution, ACEN and/or CCNE
• Valid State of Florida RN license
• BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience

Responsibilities

• Assesses assigned patients and evaluates plans with documentation of nursing care and vital signs.
• Modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patient responses and physician orders.
• Reviews, evaluates, and reports diagnostic tests to assess patient condition.
• Consults with physicians and other healthcare professionals to plan and evaluate care.
• Prepares patients for and assists with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Communicates plan of care to patient, family, and team in a HIPAA-compliant manner.
