Job summary

Riverside Healthcare is seeking a Patient Sitter to provide continuous observation and ensure patient safety in the Emergency Department. The role supports the care team by communicating changes and helping maintain a calm environment for recovery.

Required are a high school diploma and current BLS certification, with preferred health-science coursework or EMT/CNA credentials. Duties include documentation, adherence to safety protocols, and direct bedside presence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• BLS certification required and kept current.
• Preferred: completion of one college health-science semester, EMT-B training, or CNA certification with registry status; or relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous direct observation of patients at risk for injury or harm.
• Remain within arm's length of the patient unless directed by nursing staff.
• Notify nursing staff immediately of any changes needing clinical intervention.
• Transport patients within the ED as assigned.
• Document patient activity, behavior and interactions accurately.
• Follow hospital policies on safety, infection control and behavior management.
