Job summary

Christus Health in Texas is seeking a Paramedic to join the Emergency Department care team. Under physician supervision, you will provide advanced life support, medications, and patient evaluations, supporting nursing staff in a fast-paced area.

Requirements include EMT-P certification in Texas, BLS/ACLS/PALS, NRP within 90 days, and 1 year of paramedic experience (3 years preferred). Schedule is 11PM-11AM, part-time.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Successfully passed paramedic exam.
• Active Texas EMT-Paramedic license.
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications.
• NRP within 90 days of hire.
• One year of experience as a Paramedic in a 911 or hospital setting required; 3 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate patient monitoring equipment, record rhythm strips, 12-lead EKGs, biomarkers and glucometer readings under physician direction.
• Perform phlebotomy and insert saline lock, Foley catheter and nasogastric tube under physician direction.
• Assist in patient care, document vitals, maintain patient hygiene, and communicate with patients and healthcare team.
• Maintain clean, safe environment and manage supplies and equipment.
• Set up and perform procedures as directed.
• Transport patients to radiology and nursing units with monitoring equipment.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Successfully passed paramedic exam

Current EMT-P certification in Texas

Current BLS, ACLS and PALS Certifications

NRP within 90 days of hire
