Baptist Health in New Albany, Indiana is seeking a Charge Nurse for the Emergency Department. This full-time position requires working 36 hours a week, primarily on nights (7P-7A), with occasional weekends and holidays. The ideal candidate will provide leadership to nursing staff while delivering direct patient care.

Job Description

Seeking Charge Nurse! Baptist Health Floyd, Emergency Department. Full-Time (36 hours/week), Nights (7P-7A). Benefit Eligible.

Job Duties

• Responsible for acting as a resource nurse for the department.
• Entry-level leadership position coordinating care on designated shifts.
• Provide leadership to staff members of the unit in patient care.
• Work alongside the team, provide direct patient care while determining staffing fluctuations during shifts.
• Respond to departmental concerns, address immediate staff issues, and coordinate patient flow.
• Immediate oversight of employees while performing the same or directly related work as those the position leads.

About the Unit

The Emergency Department (ED) has 41 beds divided between two pods with 37 private rooms. A split-flow area is located near main triage and provides care to lower acuity patients. Split flow varies from 5-8 patients and is run by 1-2 nurses and a mid-level provider. This fast-paced ED treats an average of 160+ patients per day. ED staff encounter a wide variety of patients including acute cardiovascular and neurovascular emergencies, general medical emergencies, traumatic injuries, and psychiatric patients. The ED is recognized by the American Heart Association as both a STEMI receiving center and a designated Primary Stroke Center. New Graduate RNs are welcome.

• ACLS certification required (obtained within 12 months of hire).
• PALS certification required (obtained within 12 months of hire).
• NIHSS certification required (obtained within 10 weeks of hire).
• One year of nursing experience required; One year of experience in area of specialty preferred.
