UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital in Longmont, CO seeks a Charge RN with ED leadership experience. The role requires supervision of staff on a fast-paced shift, direct patient care when needed, and ongoing evaluation of care quality on the unit.

This position is an onsite role and does not offer a hybrid or remote option.

Summary

Provides nursing leadership for a specific shift and unit/area.

Responsibilities
  1. Supervises and mentors staff during assigned shift. Determines staffing level and assignments based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, and patient acuity.
  2. Provides direct patient care as needed. Floats between staff to assist with problem-solving. May take patient assignments to meet staffing needs.
  3. Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care, including formal evaluation, and identifies any issues that affect desired patient outcomes. Responds to complaints about patient care and related services, and manages through established channels.
  4. Performs role-specific duties as assigned, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers. Ensures staff has necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care.
  5. Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse Advanced Cardiac Life Support Trauma Nurse Core Course Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses PALS Certification
  • Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program. Must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program within three years of assuming the Charge RN position.
  • Required Licensure/Certification: State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • 1 year of nursing experience.
  • TNCC or ATCN, ENPC or PALS required within 1 year of hire.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
