Job summary

Halifax Health in Daytona Beach is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support the Emergency Department with patient transport, vital signs, phlebotomy, and routine nursing support. The role requires responding to emergencies, using ECG monitoring, and assisting with resuscitation under supervision.

The candidate must have a high school diploma or GED and obtain BLS within 7 days of hire, with strong communication and computer skills to document care and coordinate with staff and physicians.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Current certification in BLS within 7 days of hire.
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain composure in stressful situations.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Basic computer skills or ability to learn and use hospital computer.
• Effective communication skills with unit staff and other departments.
• Must complete orientation requirements: general hospital orientation and unit-specific orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provides care for newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
• Performs patient assessments in an appropriate and timely fashion.
• Assists with resuscitation/CPR and emergency airway procedures within scope of practice.
• Transports patients within the hospital in a safe and timely manner.
• Draws blood samples and prepares them for testing according to hospital policy.
• Documents procedures performed within scope of skills checklist.
• Maintains certifications and education requirements of the department and Halifax Health.
• Assists with orienting and precepting new Team Members, students and volunteers.
