Ideal candidates have prior veterinary assistant experience, familiarity with surgical protocols, anesthesia monitoring, and a flexible schedule including overnights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary assistant experience is required.
• Familiarity with surgical protocols and procedures is expected.
• Experience monitoring anesthesia is required.
• Ability to place IV catheters and perform blood draws is needed.
• Strong multitasking and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with emergency and surgical procedures.
• Prepare patients for surgery, including restraint, clipping, and prep.
• Monitor anesthesia during procedures and aid in recovery.
• Intubate and extubate surgical patients.
• Place IV catheters and perform blood draws.
• Maintain sterile surgical fields and sterilization protocols.
• Monitor hospitalized and post-operative patients.
• Assist with diagnostics, radiographs, and labs.
• Maintain accurate medical records and treatment logs.

Neel Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced and compassionate Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Assistant to join our growing emergency and specialty team. This position is ideal for a veterinary assistant who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about emergency medicine, critical care, and surgical patient support.

As part of our Emergency & Critical Care team, you will assist veterinarians and credentialed technicians with emergency procedures, surgical preparation, patient monitoring, and hands-on nursing care. We are looking for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional patient care and client service.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Experience placing IV catheters and performing blood draws
• Knowledge of sterilization procedures and surgical instrument handling
• Emergency, ICU, or specialty veterinary experience preferred
• Strong multitasking and communication skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced emergency environment
