Job summary

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District is seeking a Communications Equipment Specialist I to support 911 communications, radios, VoIP, and related tech. This role assists technicians, installs systems, and follows safety practices to ensure reliable communications for emergencies.

Candidates must have California driver license, 12 college units in telecom/electronic technology, and 1 year of full-time experience, with substitution options. Probationary status in county service is required.

Qualifications

• License: Valid California driver license (out-of-state license accepted during application).
• Education: 12 college units or 18 quarter units in telecommunications, electronic technology, computer technology or closely related field.
• Experience: 1 year of full-time experience demonstrating relevant knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Substitution: 1 year of journey-level experience or completion of a Communications Technicians Apprenticeship may substitute for the required education.
• Promotional Status: Applicants must have probationary or regular permanent status in County service on the final filing date.
