Job summary

Vanderbilt Health in Nashville is seeking an entry-level nurse aide to assist the nursing staff and patients with basic care needs, following orders and evaluating care within the unit. This role supports the patient care team and communicates with families and other staff to ensure quality care.

The position offers a single 12-hour shift per week (7 a.m. – 7 p.m.), with rotating coverage as needed and a pathway to professional growth within a leading academic health system.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Less than 1 year of relevant work experience.
• Ability to be self-directed and quality focused.

Responsibilities

• Obtains vital signs, intake and outputs, and daily weights.
• Reports any abnormal findings to the nurse and/or charge nurse.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, bathing, and toileting.
• May transcribe physician orders, answer patient call lights and relay messages to staff.
• May assist physicians with obtaining needed information on patients.
• Adheres to practices and policies outlined to ensure patient safety and follows infection control standards.
