IndyVet Emergency and Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Neurology Technician to join our ER/Specialty team. The ideal candidate is a Registered Veterinary Technician with AVMA-accredited training and at least 2 years of experience in emergency or specialty settings.

You will work on diagnostic imaging, lab work, anesthesia support, and client communication, while upholding our Fear Free, Cat Friendly standards.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Veterinary Technician.
• AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program.
• Minimum of 2 years of tech experience, preferably in emergency or specialty.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/sit for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Observing patients for behavioral changes.
• Preparing patients for diagnostics (radiographs, sample draws, MRI, CSF tap, surgeries).
• Performing patient care.
• Collecting and running lab samples.
• Capturing diagnostic images (radiographs and MRI).
• Administering medications (oral, IV, IM).

Our team collaborates to provide aid and comfort to pets and their families when unforeseen medical conditions arise. Our facility boasts human-grade MRI, CT, a blood banking program, an in-house laboratory, digital radiology, Ezyvet, and VetRadar.

About You:

The ideal candidate for this role is a Registered Veterinary Technician, has completed an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program, and has a minimum of 2 years of tech experience, preferably working in an emergency or specialty hospital setting. This person has a very established skillset and navigates all communication, including conflict, professionally and courteously. This is an invaluable position to serve the staff using creative problem-solving, upholding our gold standard of patient care, and continuing to foster a culture of teamwork.

Essential Job Functions:

• Observing patients for behavioral changes
• Preparing patients for diagnostics (radiographs, sample draws, MRI, CSF tap, surgical procedures)
• Performing patient care
• Collecting and running lab samples
• Capturing diagnostic images (radiographs and MRI)
• Administering medications orally, intravenously and intramuscularly
• Collecting and maintaining patients records efficiently and effectively
• Effective client communication
• Practice of fear free techniques
• Other duties as assigned on an as needed basis

Requirements:

• Able to lift up to 50lbs without assistance
• Able to stand and sit for extended periods of time
• Able to lift, bend and handle heavy items

Skills/Abilities:

• High School Degree
• Strong aptitude of verbal and written communications as well as presentation and relationship development
• Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance

Anticipated Schedule:

This is a full-time position.

10 - Hour Shifts

Some weekends are required.

On-call rotation required.

Compensation: $20.00 to $25.00 base pay depending on experience level and credential
