Job summary

EMTA USA Inc is seeking a Transaction Counsel in Boston, Massachusetts to provide dedicated legal support for the Emerging Markets Debt investment team. You will analyze documentation, partner with investment professionals, and manage negotiations on sovereign and corporate credit investments. The ideal candidate has a J.D., experience in transactional law with a focus on sovereign debt, and excellent communication skills. The position offers a range of competitive employee benefits and a salary of $125,000 to $250,000 annually.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school; member in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar.
• Meaningful experience in transactional law with direct exposure to sovereign debt documentation.
• Strong background in credit documentation for corporate issuers.
• Familiarity with legal frameworks commonly used in EM credit.

Responsibilities

• Provide investment-relevant analysis of sovereign bond documentation.
• Manage external counsel on sovereign and corporate matters.
• Support sovereign document negotiation processes.
• Review and negotiate bespoke new-issue and private deal documentation.
