Job summary

FieldAI in Irvine merges embodied AI with real robots and sensors to ship field-ready systems. We pursue reliable deployment outside the lab with Field Foundational Models that raise perception, planning, localization, and manipulation capabilities for real-world use.

You will join a world-class team tackling hard robotics problems, publishing in leading venues, and contributing to deployments across diverse environments.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed a PhD in Robotics or related field.
• Strong research foundation in robot learning, planning and decision-making, embodied AI, perception, or HRI.
• Familiarity with state-of-the-art embodied AI robotics research.
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++.
• Experience with modern ML frameworks.
• Experience developing and evaluating algorithms for robotic or embodied systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with rigorous experimental design.
• Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Robot Behavior & Learning: research methods for learning and generating robot behaviors from demonstrations and data.
• Active Perception & Embodied Reasoning: enable active inspection, observation planning, and actions based on context.
• Human-Robot Interaction: develop intuitive collaboration and user intent handling.
• Embodied AI Models: adapt foundation models for reasoning, planning and manipulation on robots.
• Real-Robot Experimentation: implement and evaluate algorithms on physical robots in unstructured environments.
• Research & Publication: conduct cutting-edge research and contribute to conferences/journals.
