LG Electronics USA is seeking an Embodied AI Researcher to advance LG’s Zero-labor Home vision. The role blends fundamental research with deployment, driving generalist robot intelligence and scalable platforms for LG’s home robot ecosystem.

The ideal candidate will publish at leading conferences, collaborate across global teams, and push frontier AI toward real-world products used by millions, in a hybrid setup with strong research ownership.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, ML or related field with strong publication record.
• Expertise in Robot Foundation Models, world model training, spatial intelligence, multimodal representation learning, and learning from demonstrations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across teams.
• Ability to independently drive technically ambitious research projects.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fundamental and applied Embodied AI research to advance state of the art and publish at top conferences.
• Develop Robot Foundation Models and enable 3D spatial reasoning, dexterous manipulation, zero-shot generalization, long-horizon planning, and safe human-robot interaction.
• Train multimodal models integrating vision, language, tactile sensing, and proprioception for real-world performance.
• Architect scalable data pipelines combining simulation, generative AI, and real-world data for large-scale training.
• Collaborate with global teams and hardware partners to integrate embodied AI into LG's consumer ecosystem.
• Help define technical strategy and long-term research roadmaps for LG's embodied AI initiatives.

About the Position - Embodied AI Researcher

We are seeking an exceptional Embodied AI Researcher to help realize LG's vision of the Zero-labor Home. This hybrid role offers a unique opportunity to develop generalist robot intelligence and deploy it at scale in next-generation LG home robot platforms. You will work at the frontier of embodied intelligence while seeing your research transition into real-world products used by millions.

What You Will Do:

• Conduct fundamental and applied research to advance the state of the art in Embodied AI, with the support to publish at top-tier conferences and contribute to the broader scientific community.
• Develop next-generation Robot Foundation Models to advance robot capabilities such as 3D spatial reasoning, dexterous manipulation, zero-shot task generalization, long-horizon planning, and safe human-robot interaction.
• Train multimodal models that integrate vision, language, tactile sensing, and proprioception to achieve robust real-world performance.
• Architect scalable data pipelines that combine high-fidelity simulation, generative AI, and real-world data collection to fuel large-scale model training.
• Collaborate with global research teams and hardware partners to integrate embodied AI technologies into LG's consumer ecosystem.
• Contribute to defining technical strategy and long-term research roadmaps that shape LG's embodied AI initiatives.

Expected Qualifications:

• PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or a related technical field with a strong publication record
• Research and engineering expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Robot Foundation Models (e.g., VLA, LBM, Diffusion/Flow Matching for manipulation and locomotion),
  • World Model training for robot action prediction,
  • Spatial Intelligence (self-supervised visual foundation models, 3D scene reconstruction, embodied scene understanding),
  • Multimodal representation learning across vision, language, and tactile
  • Learning from human demonstrations and self play.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical ideas across research and engineering teams.
• Proven ability to work independently and independently drive technically ambitious research projects in dynamic and fast-moving environments.

Nice-to-have:

• Hands-on experience with robot HW systems, including manipulators or mobile robots, and sensors such as RGB/Depth cameras and FT/Tactile sensors.
• Experience with physics-based simulation platforms (e.g., PyBullet, MuJoCo, Isaac Sim) for large-scale data generation, experimentation, and evaluation.

Compensation: the base salary range is between $150k-$210k, depending on experience and location. Additional compensation incentives are also included.
