REGENT is hiring an Embedded Systems Software Engineer to develop and certify Seaglider embedded software from microcontroller platforms to Linux-based systems for sea-ready operation.

You will work on real-time software, HIL testing, and electronics integration, collaborating with controls, avionics, and modeling teams to validate concepts from bench to sea trials.

Qualifications

• Experience writing embedded C++ code for microcontrollers or Linux-based systems.
• Hands-on with real-time software and HIL/SIL testing.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
• Familiarity with Python or MATLAB scripting.

Responsibilities

• Develop, debug, and maintain the real-time software stack from microcontroller to Linux.
• Contribute to SIL and HIL test environments and cross-team coordination.
• Set up and maintain electronics ecosystem including sensors, servos, SBCs.
• Automate build systems and deployment pipelines for maintenance and certification.
• Prototype and field-test during sea trials, diagnose issues and demo capabilities.

Role Overview

As an Embedded Systems Software Engineer, you'll play a role in developing and certifying our Seaglider product family. You'll contribute to embedded software development, simulation testing, and hands-on electronics work, helping ensure our platform stays reliable, testable, and ready to evolve.

From managing real-time software and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing to wiring up harnesses and spinning up GUIs, your work will directly impact how we prototype, validate, and push the boundaries of our tech. You'll also collaborate closely with our controls, avionics, and modeling teams to ensure a smooth path from concept to demo - both on the bench and at sea. What You'll Do

• Contribute to Seaglider product family embedded software stack: Develop, debug, and maintain the real-time software that runs on our Seaglider product family, from microcontroller code to Linux-based applications.
• Support test environment development and testing: Contribute towards development of the SIL and HIL test environment for verification of controls software. This will include coordinating with multiple disciplinary teams.
• Manage COTS electronics & harnessing: Set up and maintain the electronics ecosystem - from sensors and servos to single-board computers, harnesses, and breakout boards.
• Improve developer tools and processes: Automate build systems, streamline deployment pipelines, and build tooling to facilitate maintenance and certification.
• Prototype and field-test: Be a key part of the sea trials team - monitoring operation, running diagnostics, troubleshooting in the field, and reliably showing off our latest and greatest Seaglider capabilities.

What You'll Bring

• Demonstrated experience writing C++ for embedded systems - whether on Linux, RTOS, or bare metal
• Strong hands-on experience with microcontrollers and common embedded interfaces (Serial, SPI, CAN, PWM, ADCs, DIO, etc.)
• Ability to read, interpret, and contribute to wiring diagrams and electrical schematics
• Comfortable scripting with Python, MATLAB, or similar languages

Bonus Experience

• Experience with LabVIEW or Simulink for DAQ and HIL systems
• Familiarity with actuation systems like servo motors
• Field-testing experience and a knack for troubleshooting electronics in real-world environments
• Experience building safety-critical applications
• Familiarity with aerospace or automotive standards like DO-178C or ISO 26262
