Job summary

Black Canyon Consulting is seeking a mid-career Embedded Systems Engineer to bridge hardware and software in medical devices. You will design FPGA architectures, generate schematics, and drive kernel drivers on Linux-based embedded systems.

You will work across FPGA, analog front-end, and applications, ensuring safety and compliance under IEC 62304 / ISO 13485, while collaborating with hardware and software teams.

Qualifications

• 4-7+ years of hands-on embedded systems development.
• Generate complex board-level schematics for FPGA-based designs.
• Deep knowledge of Xilinx toolchain and AXI interconnect protocols.
• Proficiency in VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog for hardware design.
• Strong embedded Linux experience (Yocto, PetaLinux, Buildroot).
• C/C++ or Rust for low-level firmware and drivers; Python for scripting.

Responsibilities

• Board-Level Schematic Generation for FPGA-centric medical devices.
• FPGA Architecture & Implementation on Xilinx platforms with AXI interfaces.
• Device Driver & Kernel Development bridging FPGA logic and applications.
• Full-Cycle Medical Device Development under IEC 62304 / ISO 13485.
• Cross-Functional Hardware Integration with PCB layout engineers.
• Debug high-speed signal integrity and develop hardware-in-the-loop tests.
• Optimization for low latency, high throughput, and SWAP-C constraints.
