Job summary

Stature Strategy has engaged an established Northern Michigan technology manufacturer to recruit an Embedded Systems Engineer. This hands-on role spans hardware and firmware—from design and prototyping to testing, production, and ongoing product improvement.

You will develop analog and digital hardware, write C/C++ firmware, and bring up PCBs, while working with UART/SPI/I2C/USB interfaces and a range of lab equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of embedded systems, electronics, or related product development experience.
• Strong embedded C experience; C++ beneficial.
• Hands-on with schematic capture and PCB design/layout.
• Experience with microcontrollers and common serial interfaces.
• Practical knowledge of analog and digital circuits.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop analog and digital electronic hardware.
• Develop embedded firmware in C/C++.
• Design, prototype, and bring up PCBs.
• Work with UART, SPI, I2C, RS-232/485, and USB.
• Troubleshoot hardware and firmware with lab equipment.
• Participate in product architecture, reviews, testing, and validation.

We have been engaged by an established Northern Michigan technology manufacturer to identify an Embedded Systems Engineer to join its growing engineering team.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys working across both hardware and firmware rather than being limited to one narrow area. The engineer will support the development of sophisticated electronic products from initial design and prototyping through testing, production, and continued product improvement.

What You’ll Do:

• Design and develop analog and digital electronic hardware
• Develop embedded firmware in C/C++
• Design, prototype, and bring up PCBs
• Work with communication protocols including UART, SPI, I²C, RS-232/485, and USB
• Troubleshoot hardware and firmware using standard laboratory equipment
• Participate in product architecture, design reviews, testing, and validation
• Support existing products through root-cause analysis, design updates, and manufacturing support
• Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of embedded systems, electronics, or related product development experience
• Strong embedded C experience; C++ experience is beneficial
• Hands-on experience with schematic capture and PCB design/layout
• Experience working with microcontrollers and common serial communication interfaces
• Practical knowledge of analog and digital circuits
• Comfortable using oscilloscopes, DMMs, logic analyzers, and similar test equipment
• Ability to take ownership of projects from design through production

Experience with RF, wireless technologies, sensor systems, test automation, Embedded Linux, or production-scale electronics manufacturing would be beneficial but is not required.
