Job summary

Apple Inc. in San Diego is seeking a Battery Firmware Engineer to design and implement embedded software that powers next-generation energy storage hardware.

You will work across disciplines to transform innovative hardware elements into a single, integrated design. The role emphasizes C and Python development for microcontrollers, debugging with JTAG/SWD, and collaborating with hardware teams to meet product requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience programming in C and Python.
• Experience with micro-controllers.
• Experience with solving tools such as JTAG, SWD, oscilloscopes, or logic analyzers.
• Experience in software development, verification methodology, version control and automation tools.
• Experience in low-pin-count communication buses (I2C or UART or SPI).

• Work with project leaders to define assignments, schedules, quality expectations, and other project criteria.
• Present results and recommendations.
• Quickly debug and effectively close out system issues related to the product firmware, software, and systems.
• Participate in the definition and bring up of new custom ICs.

In this role you will work across disciplines to transform improved hardware elements into a single, integrated design. You'll help us innovate new battery technologies that continually outperforms the previous iterations. By collaborating with other product development groups across Apple, you’ll push the industry boundaries of what batteries can do and improve the product experience for our customers across the world.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• BS degree and 10+ years relevant industry experience.
• Understanding of embedded systems design and debugging methodologies and strategies.
• Experience architecting, coding, and integrating firmware for hardware products.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,000 and $308,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
