Hewlett Packard Enterprise in California is seeking an Embedded Software Engineering Intern to join our hybrid team, working on average 2 days per week from an HPE office. You will contribute to ASIC SDK and new switch products, write C and Python, explore Linux environments, and collaborate with internal and external teams to deliver high-quality software.

Job Family Definition

Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for ASIC SDK and new switch products. Develops software including Linux operating systems, networks, utilities, and Linux debug tools. Determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design. Has the ability to understand RTL, write C/C++, Python, Rust, Go Lang.

Leads and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. Contributes to process improvements and establishing policies. Exercises significant independent judgment within broadly defined policies and practices to determine the best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives.

Education and Experience Required

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
• Typically, at least one intern experience before this.

Knowledge and Skills

• Extensive experience with multiple software systems design tools and languages: C and Python.
• Experience reading the ASIC designs and understanding them in detail.
• Experience working with some flavor of Emulator and Simulator environments.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills – think outside the box.
• Experience in overall architecture of software systems: Linux kernel drivers.
• Designing and integrating software systems running on multiple platform types into overall architecture.
• Evaluating forms and processes for software systems testing and methodology, including writing and execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.
• Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at senior management levels.
