Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering with ≥5 years of experience; Master’s with ≥3 years; PhD or equivalent experience.
• Experience with embedded software development and real‑time operating systems.
• Strong knowledge of object‑oriented design and programming, including design patterns and finite state machines.
• Hands‑on experience with C/C++/Java/Python.
• Knowledge of multithreading and preemptive thread scheduling.
• Experience with source control, modern software development cycles, root‑cause analysis, and networking fundamentals.
• Hands‑on experience using AI‑assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.

The impact you’ll make

As a Software Engineer at Lam, you will design, develop, and troubleshoot software programs to support design, infrastructure, and technology platforms. Your expertise ensures hardware compatibility and seamless integration between software and hardware across our product portfolio.

Who we’re looking for

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering with ≥5 years of experience; Master’s degree with ≥3 years of experience; PhD or equivalent experience.
• Experience with embedded software development, distributed systems, and real‑time operating systems.
• Knowledge of object‑oriented software design and programming, including design patterns and finite state machines.
• Strong hands‑on experience with programming languages C/C++/Java/Python.
• Knowledge of multithreading and preemptive thread scheduling.
• Experience with source control, modern software development cycles, root‑cause analysis, and networking fundamentals.
• Hands‑on experience using AI‑assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.
• Exposure to software testing or QA practices and debugging/root‑cause analysis.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate technical information clearly at all levels; team‑oriented and able to work independently.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams with tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Software development skills in Smalltalk and VisualWorks.

Salary Range

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $99,000.00 - $220,000.00.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
