Job summary

Punch Through, a design and engineering firm in the Minneapolis area, seeks an Associate Embedded Software Engineer intern. You’ll work on connected products, gaining hands-on experience from proofs of concept to long-term development, with spring part-time hours and full-time in the summer.

We value curiosity, practical projects, and the ability to learn from peers. Applicants should have embedded software experience and be comfortable with C, Git, and Python.

Qualifications

• Desire and curiosity to learn new things.
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in CS, CE, EE or equivalent with embedded emphasis.
• Intern for at least one full year before undergraduate graduation.
• Commit to 40 hours/week during summer and 15–20 hours/week during school.
• Communicate clearly and discuss complex ideas simply.
• Experience with C and embedded development for microcontrollers.
• Experience with team development using Git or similar tools.
• Experience with Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software for connected products.
• Learn new engineering topics and solve problems.
• Contribute to and review architecture design for embedded software projects.
• Deliver status updates to clients’ engineers and stakeholders and incorporate feedback.
• Contribute to design and product requirement specifications.
• Demonstrate independence and work with minimal direction.
• Remain open to learning from teammates and ask for help when needed.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of software engineering practices.
• Support Punch Through culture by being yourself and striving for excellence.
