Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop software for diesel engine, battery electric, and fuel cell applications. You will analyze requirements, configure and build embedded software, and test it on bench systems, while troubleshooting defects across hardware and software.

The role requires experience with embedded software, CAN/J1939, and MATLAB/C, plus collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver reliable power solutions.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience with embedded software for engine/machine systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of CAN/SAE J1939 and CANalyzer is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Develop embedded software for diesel engine, battery electric, and fuel cell applications.
  • Perform requirements analysis, configuration, build and testing of software.
  • Set up test benches and support debugging of hardware/software defects.
  • Create and execute test plans using manual and automated methods.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure software quality.
