Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Rochester, NY is seeking a Specialist, Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and test firmware for advanced tactical radios and waveform software. You will collaborate across engineering to define hardware-software interfaces and ensure performance across the system lifecycle.

The role requires strong C/C++ and real-time design skills, experience with RTOS such as VxWorks, Linux, or QNX, and the ability to obtain a US security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent with 4 years of related experience, or graduate degree with at least 2 years of related experience.
• In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of related experience.
• Must be able to obtain a US security clearance.

Job Description

The specialist embedded firmware engineer designs, develops, and extensively tests complex engineering solutions for advanced tactical radio operating systems and waveform software. Works closely with cross-functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements and design of the overall system. Participates in all phases of the software development life cycle.

Essential Functions

• Proficient with C/C++ and object-oriented design
• Familiarity with real time and multi-threaded software design
• Familiar with Windows and with real-time operating systems (e.g. VxWorks RTOS, Linux, QNX)
• Ability to quickly analyze and understand large and complex existing software systems
• Ability to develop software test procedures, software programs, and related documentation
• Ability to identify, track, and repair software defects
• Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Ability to clearly and succinctly convey information and ideas
• Must be able to obtain a US security clearance
• Requires the candidate to be able to obtain a security clearance.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York State is $84,500 - $157,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
