Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University seeks a Resiliency Automation Engineer to advance embedded software projects within a regulated environment. You will build and sustain CI/CD pipelines, static analysis workflows, and deployment environments, while participating in all phases of the software lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 8 years of relevant experience; OR MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems and/or Engineering, or Acquisition Management with 5 years of experience; OR Ph.D. with 2 years of experience.
  • Willingness to travel (25%) to SEI offices, sponsor sites, conferences, and offsite meetings.
  • Background investigation and ability to obtain DoW security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated workflows for embedded software projects written in C, C++ and Java.
  • Integrate and manage static analysis tools to monitor code quality, enforce coding standards, and identify defects early in the lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with development and verification teams to embed automated testing, build, and deployment processes into firmware/software systems.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using Docker and Kubernetes for test, staging, and production environments.
  • Provide guidance on best practices for software engineering, code quality, maintainability, and scalability in an embedded context.
  • Collaborate with teams from multiple organizations to align build and toolchain workflows with mission requirements.
  • Apply system engineering principles to system software development.
