Job summary

The Bio-Inspired Perception and Robotics Laboratory (BPRL) at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks an Embedded Firmware and Flight Control Engineer to design and implement bio-inspired flight control architectures on aerial platforms and lead flight demonstrations for stakeholders.

You will bridge theory and practice, developing on-board hardware and software, debugging custom controllers, and ensuring every demonstration showcases safe, reliable UAS technology.

Qualifications

PhD in engineering, robotics, or computer science.
Experience with embedded C++ (RTOS) and ROS2.
Hands-on experience deploying embedded controllers on flight platforms (quadrotors).
Experience piloting drones and working with motion capture systems and data.

Responsibilities

Design, write, and test low-level C++ code on microcontrollers.
Tune control loops for flight performance and verify on hardware.
Troubleshoot circuit boards and communication protocols (CAN, I2C, UART).
Set up, launch, and execute flight demonstrations for stakeholders.
