Job summary

Google is seeking a Software Engineer for Embedded Systems/Firmware on the Pixel Bootloader team in Mountain View, CA. The role focuses on bootloader and firmware features, device bring-up, and collaboration across silicon, hardware, and software environments.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and 2 years in C and embedded OS development; preferred is a Master’s or PhD with additional experience in data structures, debugging tools, and bootloader/Linux kernel work.

• 2 years of experience with software development in C.
• 2 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver bootloader and firmware features in C and Rust.
• Participate in bringing up new Pixel devices throughout the full development cycle.
• Design and implement software features in interconnect, boot, reset, memory, IO, interrupts, and security.
• Debug issues involving silicon, hardware, firmware, software, and the environment.
• Work across code bases in C, Rust, and Python.
