Job summary

Anduril Industries in Costa Mesa, CA, seeks a Firmware Engineer to develop low-level embedded software and help build tests. You’ll write firmware in C, collaborate with senior engineers, and update requirements for hardware platforms used in defense products.

You will join a cross‑functional team, perform board bring‑up, debug across hardware and software, and ensure traceability from requirements to tests as projects move from prototype to production.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
• 2+ years firmware/embedded software development experience.
• Solid C coding ability for embedded systems.
• Experience with common bus protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, or similar).
• Familiarity with board bring-up, debugging tools, and coding best practices.
• Exposure to writing or executing test procedures for embedded firmware.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.

About the Team

The Firmware Team at Anduril develops core technology used across multiple products such as Barracuda, Dive-LD, Altius, and Roadrunner. We work in close coordination with Electrical Engineering to develop hardware and software solutions to some of the hardest problems facing our customers.

About the Role

We are looking for a Firmware Engineer to develop low-level embedded software and help build the tests that verify it works. You'll work alongside senior engineers to update requirements, write firmware in C, and write tests to prove the code does what it should. Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with one or more microcontroller cores (ARM, AVR, MSP430, PIC, etc.)
• Experience with an RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, VxWorks, or similar)
• Familiarity with requirements management tools (e.g., Jama, DOORS)
• Experience building or contributing to automated test frameworks for embedded systems
• Comfortable with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for test automation
• Interest in defense technology and mission-driven work

US Salary Range

$166,000 - $220,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
