Job summary

Sugar Bowl Academy seeks a dedicated Coach to support its athletic program, fostering lifelong skiers/riders and elite athletic growth at a high-altitude mountain setting. The role emphasizes athlete well-being, character development, and day-to-day coaching under the Head Coach’s plans.

The ideal candidate is mature, reliable, and committed to the SBA community, with experience coaching youth and a genuine passion for sport and safety in challenging conditions.

Qualifications

• Experience as a coach or instructor is preferred.
• Some experience working with ages 5 to 18 is preferred.
• US Ski & Snowboard membership and completion of SafeSport training and background check.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Personal computer, tablet, or mobile device that can access SBA applications.

Responsibilities

• Execute the Head Coach’s seasonal coaching plan for long-term athlete development.
• Execute the Head Coach’s daily coaching plan for that day’s training.
• Provide technical knowledge, skill development, and instruction to athletes, which may include games, drills, verbal explanation, visual modelling, and physical execution.
• Provide individualized instruction while maintaining effective group management.
• Provide support and encouragement to enhance athlete personal development.
• Support the assessment of athlete progress and support technical evaluations for each athlete.
• Support the communication with athletes and their families to address concerns, provide updates, and support the overall development of athletes.
• Collaborate with other staff members to create a supportive and welcoming community.
• Understand, apply, and maintain accountability for all safety policies and procedures.
• Stay updated on best practices for athlete development and implement them effectively.
