Job summary

GM Motorsports in Pontiac, MI seeks a Motorsports Harness & Electronics Technician to fabricate, modify and test engine wiring harnesses to exact specs, and to troubleshoot engine management systems with specialized software/hardware. Hands-on experience in racing, aerospace, or military wiring is preferred.

The role is onsite, full-time, with a focus on building and testing harnesses, maintaining documentation, and collaborating with engineers and dyno teams to deliver high-performance results.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Electrical Technology or equivalent job-related experience and training.
• 3 years minimum experience building harnesses in racing, aerospace, military vehicles, or automotive prototypes.
• Soldering skills in electrical/electronics.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics to produce complex wiring harnesses meeting dimensional, fitment, EMI, performance and durability requirements.
• Fabrication and testing of racing, industrial, MILSPEC wiring systems & hardware.

Responsibilities

• Build, test, solve issues and repair electronic circuits and programmable controls associated with instrumentation systems.
• Support development of next gen race engine harnesses and control systems.
• Maintain and update documentation of harnesses and processes for building, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain open and regular communication with program managers, track support engineers, engine builders, and dyno team.
• Maintain records, reports, and schematics.
• Maintain stock of components required for harness and sensor building.
