Job summary

City of Boca Raton is seeking an Ocean Rescue Lifeguard to protect beachgoers and support public safety along the city’s oceanfront access areas. You’ll perform rescues, monitor hazards, and assist with life‑saving operations under supervision.

Required are a High School diploma and lifeguard-related certifications (CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard Training). Prior ocean lifeguard experience is preferred; duties include patrolling, equipment transport, and minor first‑aid care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CPR certification (American Red Cross CPR/ AED or similar).
• First Aid certification (American Red Cross First Aid or equivalent).
• Lifeguard training certification (American Red Cross/ YMCA or equivalent).
• EMS certification or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe beach and ocean conditions from tower and on patrol to identify hazards.
• Signal and guide boaters, surfers, and others away from safe swimming areas.
• Respond immediately to emergencies and perform rescues as needed.
• Carry rescue boards, resuscitation equipment, and first aid kits to and from beach areas.
• Provide care for minor injuries and assist with first-aid as required.
• Support ocean rescue operations in Intercoastal Water Way and during post-storm recovery.
