Job summary

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in Tallahassee is seeking a LAW ENFORCEMENT DISPATCHER (CLASS TITLE: DUTY OFFICER) to monitor radio, operate FCIC/NCIC, and coordinate field responses.

The role requires multitasking, shift work including nights and weekends, and mastery of Word/Excel/Outlook; CJIS background checks are required. On-site within the hour and potential for advancement within the Division of Law Enforcement.

Qualifications

• Must be willing to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be willing to be onsite within the hour when called.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Type a minimum of 35 correct words per minute.
• Qualified applicants/veterans selected for consideration must pass a level -1 background check to advance to the pre‑employment test.
• Employee must obtain CJIS certification within first six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate a two‑way radio system, telephone, and teletype system.
• Dispatch law enforcement officers and other personnel to citizen complaints and/or crimes in progress.
• Document messages regarding safety of officers performing hazardous duties between field and base station.
• Maintain location and status of law enforcement personnel through radio and telephone contact.
• Operate the FCIC/NCIC computer terminal.
• Broadcast BOLO alerts regarding dangerous or wanted criminals.
