Job summary

The Transportation Security Administration is seeking Federal Air Marshals assigned to field offices to protect commercial flights and enforce security aboard domestic and international flights. Applicants must meet basic eligibility, with either three years of experience or a bachelor's degree, and be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance.

Training is provided. Expect irregular schedules, extensive travel, and the need to carry firearms with proficiency.

Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible experience or a bachelor's degree or higher.
• Qualification may be met through a combination of education and experience.
• Transcripts may be required for education-based qualification.

Responsibilities

• Protect commercial passenger flights from terrorist activity and other threats.
• Work discreetly aboard domestic and international flights.
• Assess situations and respond with limited backup.
• Carry a firearm and maintain firearms proficiency.
• Conduct law enforcement, investigative, analytical, and advisory activities.
• Interview witnesses or suspects when required.
• Make arrests and execute warrants within legal authority.
• Participate in multi-agency operations with federal, state, and local partners.
• Support ground-based transportation-security and counterterrorism missions.
• Perform other specialized assignments, including Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems operations.
