Kunes Auto Group in Sterling, IL, seeks a Body Shop Technician with strong painting and refinishing experience to join our Sterling CDJR Body Shop. The ideal candidate will perform high-quality collision repairs and paint refinishing to restore vehicles to pre-accident condition with precision and efficiency.

Ideal applicants have 5+ years of collision repair experience, expertise in color matching and blending, and relevant I-CAR certifications.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of collision repair experience with hands-on paint/refinishing.
• Proficiency in color matching, tinting, and blending across major paint systems.
• Knowledge of modern vehicle construction and safety standards.
• Ability to weld, use frame machines, and operate paint equipment.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• I-CAR or I-CAR Welding and paint/refinishing certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural and non-structural collision repairs according to OEM standards.
• Repair, refinish, and replace body panels and parts as needed.
• Prep surfaces and apply color-matched OEM-quality finishes.
• Operate spray guns, paint booths, and mixing systems; ensure seamless color matches.
• Conduct quality checks and maintain repair records and safety.
