Job summary

The Audubon Institute in New Orleans is seeking a Zookeeper- Elephants to join the Elephant Department for full‑time care of 0.3 Asian elephants. The role reports to the Curator and focuses on daily husbandry, enrichment, and welfare initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in biology, zoology, or related field preferred.
• Experience with elephants or large mammals is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily elephant care and welfare.
• Support handling, training, and enrichment programs.
• Monitor health and behavior, report concerns to supervisors.
• Engage guests with conservation messages and educational talks.
• Document daily activities and assist in veterinary and curatorial tasks.
