Job summary

Guilderland Central School District is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support instruction and daily routines in an elementary classroom or self-contained setting. The TA will work under a certified teacher to implement IEPs, support learning, behavior, and personal care needs, and create a safe learning environment for all students.

Qualifications

• TA Certification and experience with children in educational or special needs settings.
• Strong patience, empathy and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to assist with mobility or self-care tasks.

Responsibilities

• Support lead teacher in planning and delivering instructional activities tailored to students' needs.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to reinforce learning and monitor progress.
• Assist with IEPs, BIPs, and accommodations as directed.
• Monitor behavior and provide positive behavioral supports.
• Assist with daily living skills as needed.
• Prepare instructional materials and learning centers.
• Supervise students during recess, lunch, and transitions.
• Maintain records related to student progress and behavior.
• Collaborate with teachers, specialists, therapists, and parents.
• Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
