Responsibilities

• Plans a program of study that meets the needs, interests and abilities of students.
• May teach multiple disciplines as assigned.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Plans and prepares lesson plans and related activities for individual students or assigned classes.
• Guides the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals; establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc., and communicates these objectives to students.
• Establishes and communicates clear objectives and uses diverse instructional techniques and media.
• Maintains accurate records of tests and grades; provides progress reports as required.
• Reports suspected learning disabilities to District specialists as appropriate.
• Maintains records as required by law and policy.
• Assists in implementing policies and maintaining classroom order and safety.
• Supervises teaching assistants and volunteers; conducts parent-teacher conferences.
• Maintains inventory of classroom supplies; prepares requisitions.
• Coordinates or participates in special programs and acts as adviser to student organizations.
