Job summary

Fayette County Public Schools seeks an enthusiastic Elementary School Teacher for Oakland Elementary (PK-5). The teacher will prepare lessons aligned to state standards, differentiate instruction, and collaborate with faculty to monitor student progress and communicate with parents.

An active Tennessee teaching license is required, with duties including assessments, interventions, and collaboration with administrators and coaches to improve performance. Attendance is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education is required.
• Hold Tennessee certification license is required.
• Demonstrated organizational skills.
• Effective decision-making and verbal and written communication skills.
• Be Highly Qualified in this area.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates and differentiates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective program that addressing individual student requirements.
• Commitment to high student achievement & support for all students.
• Knowledge of the subject matter being taught.
• Ability to exercise various teaching strategies to increase students’ critical thinking skills.
• Create a secure classroom climate and respond to inquiries from a variety of sources.
• Instruct students for the purpose of improving their success in academics through a defined course of study.
• Directs assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.
• Administer and develop subject specific assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
• Participates in a variety of meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
• Monitors students in a variety of educational environments for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
• Prepares a variety of written materials to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
• Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
• Plan, develop, implement, and monitor with student success as your goal.
• Use available technology in your lessons.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.
