Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with appropriate certification for teaching assignment.
• Possess or be eligible for a teacher license from the Virginia Department of Education.
• Act under the direction and advice of the building administrators within policy and state regulations.
• Knowledge of VDOE and WJCC curriculum and techniques for integrating curriculum.
• Ability to infuse technology into the curriculum.
• Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, staff, students, parents and community.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and human relations skills

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates current, accurate knowledge of curriculum and state standards, and prepares students to master grade level standards.
• Plans instruction with objectives, activities, and lesson plans for students and substitutes; teaches as assigned.
• Uses data to plan daily and long-range instructional decisions.
• Selects and creates materials and resources to meet students' abilities and needs.
• Maintains records of student performance and attendance; communicates progress to parents.
• Provides opportunities for individual differences and equitable participation.
• Maintains a positive classroom environment and professional demeanor.
