Job summary

LifeWise Academy is seeking a part-time teacher to share the gospel in public school classrooms. The ideal candidate is a practicing Christian, active in a local church, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities include training, teaching LifeWise classes, maintaining records, and engaging with the school and community. You will implement the LifeWise curriculum, build relationships with students, and promote the organization's mission while maintaining an organized

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of classroom teaching experience in school or church settings.
• A mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith
• Active participation in and commitment to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the What We Believe section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith

Responsibilities

• Complete Initial and Ongoing Training
• Complete the LifeWise Teacher Certification Course within 30 days of start date
• Participate in the annual LifeWise Summit
• Attend at least one Teachers' Lounge or one LifeWise Meet-Up per year
• Stay up to date on training and updates by regularly checking LifeWise email
• Teach LifeWise Classes using the LifeWise curriculum and map curriculum customization
• Implement the LifeWise curriculum in the classroom
• Invest in connecting with students through relationships and prayer
• Cultivate an organized, encouraging and redemptive classroom environment
• Apply LifeWise policies, procedures and resources
• Take attendance and maintain class rosters and permissions
• Maintain a clean, well-ordered classroom and know emergency procedures
• Purchase classroom supplies using funds provided by the program director
• Act as LifeWise Academy ambassador within the community
• Attend annual school open houses and outreach events
• Maintain dialogue with school personnel about schedule changes and student well-being
• Build relationships with volunteers and keep them informed
• Submit regular updates, stories and photos to the program director
• Promote and communicate LifeWise's religious mission in duties and interactions

  • Apply LifeWise policies, procedures and resources
• Maintain Records
  • Take attendance in each class and provide attendance records to LifeWise program director and/or school officials as needed
  • Maintain accurate class rosters including health concerns, special needs of students and photo permissions as noted on parent permission slips
  • Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher as needed
• Maintain the Classroom
  • Maintain a clean, attractive and well-ordered classroom
  • Know procedures for dealing with emergency situations
  • Purchase classroom supplies as needed using funds provided by program director
• Communicate
  • Act as a LifeWise Academy ambassador within the community
  • Attend annual school open house and other outreach events as available
  • Maintain ongoing dialogue with school personnel to stay apprised of class schedule changes and ensure student well-being
  • Build relationships with volunteers and keep them apprised of schedule changes
  • Submit regular updates, stories and photos to program director
  • Promote and communicate LifeWise's religious mission in all duties and interactions, ensuring alignment with the organization's core values and beliefs
