Responsibilities

  • Participate in planning meetings, conferences, and committees to support school operations.
  • Follow courses of study approved by the Alabama State Board of Education and Talladega County Board of Education; use approved materials.
  • Foster student attitudes toward citizenship, self-discipline, morality, and patriotism in school activities.
  • Prepare for classes and maintain a classroom conducive to learning; provide written evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Keep accurate records and evaluate student progress as required by policy and law.
  • Protect students and school property; safeguard equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Cooperate with staff in planning activities, instructional goals, and faculty meetings.
  • Avoid conflicts with other employment to maintain effective duties.
  • Uphold standards of conduct per Talladega County Board of Education policy.
  • Uphold and enforce Talladega County Board of Education policy.
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Promote good public relations for the Talladega County School System.
  • Engage in other duties as requested by the principal.
  • Provide consultative services to teachers and parents.
  • Develop and implement behavior management plans for students requiring intervention.
  • Foster communication between agencies involved with students.
  • Coordinate transition of students from day treatment to home school.
  • Assist in the referral process, including observations in home school settings.
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned by the Principal.

REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB GOAL: To guide students toward reaching their potential for intellectual, emotional, psychological, and physical growth and maturation through provision of appropriate learning experiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Participate in the efficient and effective operation of the school and school system. Responsibilities will include participation in planning meetings, conferences, and various committees.
  2. Follow the courses of study approved by the Alabama State Board of Education and curriculum guides and textbooks approved and adopted by the Talladega County Board of Education. Other material used for instructional purposes must be approved by the principal.
  3. Assist in fostering student attitudes through teaching the values of citizenship, self-discipline, morality, and patriotism in all activities of the school.
  4. Prepare for classes assigned, show written evidence of preparation upon request of principal at the local school, and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  5. Keep accurate, complete records and evaluate student progress as required by law, Board policy and administrative regulations.
  6. Take reasonable precautions to protect students and to safeguard all equipment, materials and facilities.
  7. Cooperate with other staff members in planning school activities, instructional goals, objectives, methods, and faculty meetings.
  8. Accept no other employment which interferes with the efficient and effective discharge of teacher duties and responsibilities.
  9. Abide by the standards established by the Talladega County Board of Education for professional and personal conduct of teachers.
  10. Uphold and enforce Talladega County Board of Education policy.
  11. Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  12. Promote good public relations for the Talladega County School System.
  13. Engage in other reasonable duties during school necessary to the safe and effective operation of the school when requested by the principal.
  14. Provide consultative services to teachers and parents.
  15. Develop and implement behavior management plans for any student requiring behavior intervention.
  16. Foster communication between all agencies involved with the students.
  17. Coordinate transition of students from day treatment to their home school.
  18. Assist in the referral process, including observations of students in their home school setting.
  19. Other reasonable duties as may be assigned by the Principal.

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 187 day contract. Salary according to proper placement on current salary schedule
