• Hold a valid Texas Teacher Certificate.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

• Plan a program of study that meets students’ individual needs, interests, and abilities.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity.
• Prepare lessons reflecting accommodations for individual differences.
• Prepare for classes and show written evidence of preparation when requested.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guide learning toward curriculum goals and communicate objectives to students.
• Employ diverse instructional techniques and media
• Strive to implement district education philosophy and goals.
• Assess student progress and provide progress reports.
• Refer students for evaluation to district specialists as required.
• Maintain records as required by law and district policies.
• Assist administration in implementing school policies and rules.
• Establish and maintain classroom behavior rules and order.
• Be available to students and parents for education-related discussions.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers and evaluate their performance.
• Maintain and improve professional competence and participate in staff development.
• Attend staff meetings and serve on committees.
• Maintain professional relationships with colleagues and communicate with students, parents, and community.
• Prepare and submit lesson plans promptly in the school platform.
