Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education is required.
• Must hold a valid Michigan teaching certificate.
• Endorsement in EI preferred; CPI/CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
• Ability to plan engaging activities promoting social-emotional, academic, and physical development of students.
• Highly qualified in the area; comply with district policies and Michigan Special Education Rules.

Responsibilities

• Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students based on data.
• Collaborate with service providers, general education teachers, and staff.
• Log and maintain monthly Medicaid Service Capture reporting.
• Maintain electronic goals/IEP-related documentation.
• Use CPI techniques to manage challenging behaviors.
• Plan and supervise daily work of support staff aligned with IEPs.
• Maintain a positive classroom environment and foster trust with students.
• Schedule curriculum, lessons, and specialized education programs.
• Monitor student progress inside and outside the classroom.
• Communicate with parents and prepare report cards and records.
• Participate in weekly Special Education committees and attend evaluations.
