Job summary

Reynoldsburg City Schools is seeking an Elementary Specials Teacher (PE) to plan and provide standards-based learning experiences aligning with Ohio's Learning Standards and the district’s mission. The role reports to the Building Principal under a 184-day contract and Exempt status.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and a valid Ohio teaching license. Preference given to candidates with a Master’s degree and experience with differentiation, UDL, and educational technology.

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Valid Ohio Teaching License/Certificate for the specific subject area and/or grade level.
• Ability to pass Federal (FBI) and State (BCI) background checks.

Responsibilities

• Align instruction with Ohio Learning Standards and the OTES 2.0 framework.
• Develop measurable learning objectives and Professional Growth Plans (PGP) based on student data.
• Employ varied instructional strategies and technology to engage learners in critical thinking.
• Implement formative and summative assessments to provide feedback and meet diverse needs (IEP, 504, EL).
• Maintain an organized, safe, and respectful classroom climate.
• Manage student transitions and behaviors effectively across various school settings.
• Manage subject-specific equipment, inventory, and safety protocols (e.g., instruments, kilns, athletic gear).
• Organize student showcases, performances, or fitness events to foster community engagement.
• Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and interdisciplinary integration with core teachers.
• Maintain proactive communication with families regarding student progress and adheres to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct.

Education

• Valid Ohio Teaching License/Certificate for the specific subject area and/or grade level (e.g., Multi-Age P-12 in Art, Music, PE, or Health).

• Master's Degree in Education or subject-specific field.
• Experience with Differentiated Instruction, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and educational technology integration.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with others. The employee is required to sit or stand and move around for extended periods of time. In PE and Music roles, significant physical activity (demonstrating movements, lifting equipment) is required. While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to push, pull, lift and carry over 25 pounds on occasion.

Working Conditions

The employee in this position may experience occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue. The employee may also be required to interact with unruly children. Exposure to loud environments (Music/Gym) is common.

Driving Requirement

This position may require driving to various school sites or events.
