Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes at the locations and times designated.
• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
• Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request by supervisor.
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guides learning toward curriculum goals with clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
• Employs various instructional techniques and media suited to the location and student needs.
• Aims to implement district educational goals and objectives.
• Assesses student progress regularly and provides progress reports as required.
• Diagnoses learning disabilities and seeks district specialist assistance as needed.
• Maintains safety of students, equipment, and facilities.
• Keeps accurate records as required by policy and regulation.
• Assists administration in enforcing policies governing student life and conduct.
• Develops reasonable classroom rules and maintains order fairly.
• Makes provisions to be available to students/parents outside instructional hours when needed.
• Plans and supervises aides/volunteers and evaluates their performance with department heads.
• Maintains professional competence through ongoing development.
• Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as required.
• Performs related duties as required.
