Job summary

Seaside School District 10 is seeking an Elementary Special Education Teacher, 1.0 FTE, to provide specially designed instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals. The role emphasizes collaboration with the building principal, special services director, and school team.

The successful candidate will build positive relationships with students, families, and staff, and will implement trauma-informed practices within a supportive, inclusive classroom environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher is required.
  • Oregon teaching certification with special education endorsement or eligibility.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as case manager for students eligible for special education and related services.
  • Use multiple sources of information to understand students’ strengths and needs.
  • Collaborate with school personnel to design specialized instruction for students with disabilities in identified areas of need.
  • Partner with staff to provide instructional and developmental supports for students with disabilities in a variety of settings.
  • Establish and maintain a consistent, organized, respectful and effective learning environment and demonstrate flexibility with students and colleagues.
  • Monitor student progress and provide written reports of progress toward IEP goals to parents.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with students, staff and families concerning students’ progress towards their individual goals.

Building Principal and Special Services Director

JOB SUMMARY

Special Education Teachers are employed to provide specialized learning experiences to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. In a supportive and collaborative learning environment, students receive specially designed instruction around their individual education plan goals and objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
  2. Hold or be eligible for Oregon Teaching Certification with special education endorsement.
  3. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff, and parents from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Prior successful experience teaching students with a variety of disabilities.
  2. Experience developing legally compliant Individual Education Plans.
  3. Experience creating and using visual schedules and teaching functional routines.
  4. Proficient in Trauma Informed Practices and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies.
  5. Proficient in the use of educational technology systems.
  6. Spanish language skills
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Serve as case manager for students eligible for special education and related services.
  2. Use multiple sources of information to develop comprehensive understanding of students’ strengths and needs.
  3. Solution oriented collaboration with school personnel to systematically design specialized instruction for students with disabilities in identified areas of need.
  4. Work in partnership with school personnel to provide instructional and developmental supports for students with disabilities in a variety of settings.
  5. Establish and maintain a consistent, organized, respectful and effective learning environment and demonstrate day-to-day flexibility with students and colleagues.
  6. Monitor student progress regularly and provide written reports of progress toward IEP goals to parents in accordance with the District’s schedule.
  7. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, staff and families concerning students’ progress towards their individual goals.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

190-Day Contract at 1.0 FTE. Salary based on current SEA negotiated agreement, $51,826-$105,207 annually plus annual stipend of $2,666-$2,889, with excellent benefits including Medical, Dental and Vision insurance and Oregon state retirement. Paid time off includes one sick day per month worked and three personal days, pro-rated per school year. Benefit information can be found at https://www.seasidek12.org/benefits. Open until filled. Starts Fall 2026 pending board approval of the 2026-2027 budget.
