Job summary

East Smiths Station Elementary School in Lee County, Alabama is seeking a Special Education Multi Disabled Aide for the Elementary program. The position supports students with disabilities with therapies, feeding, toileting, mobility, and daily activities under supervision of a special education teacher.

It is a nine-month contract with a principal-set schedule. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED; an associate degree or 48 college credits or ESSA score; and strong communication

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of an Associate’s Degree or 48 college credits or an ESSA qualifying score.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff using proper grammar and vocabulary.
• Aptitude for successful completion of assigned tasks.
• Any Board-appropriate alternatives to qualifications may be accepted.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementation of occupational and/or physical therapy as appropriate.
• Assist students with feeding and self-help skills.
• Assist with toileting needs and hygiene tasks.
• Support student mobility around campus.
• Transport assistive technology devices as needed.
• Assist with recitation, reading, and other curriculum tasks without teaching.
• Work with small groups under supervision of the special education teacher.
• Attend to students with trips to the office or nurse as needed.
• Perform other tasks to support classroom efficiency.
