Job summary

Qualifications

• Valid Alaska teaching certificate (initial, professional, or master).
• Evidence of content knowledge via degree, minor, Praxis scores, or endorsement.
• Educators teaching K-3 must meet Alaska Reads Act requirements.

Responsibilities

• Describe education philosophy and relate it to teaching practice.
• Understand how students learn and apply that knowledge.
• Establish standards of pupil behavior for a productive learning environment.
• Organize class time for instruction, demonstrations, work time, and assessment.
• Guide learning toward curriculum goals and set clear lesson objectives.
• Teach with respect for students' individual and cultural differences.
• Develop lesson plans and provide individualized and small-group instruction.
• Utilize current technology for instruction and record-keeping.
• Assess student learning and maintain progress records.
• Communicate with parents and collaborate with staff and community.
