Job summary

Parkway Schools is seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year (ONE YEAR ONLY). Under the supervision of a certified teacher, you will reinforce lessons and support classroom activities to facilitate student learning.

Starting pay is $17.38/hour with 36 college credits or substitute training; $18.38/hour with a four-year degree. Benefits included. The role includes supervising students, assisting with materials, and clerical tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Official transcripts required for 36 college credit hours.
• Copy of HS diploma/GED/HiSET required for substitute training.
• DESE Substitute Certification required before employment.
• A four-year degree qualifies for higher pay.

Responsibilities

• Assist full-time teachers and reinforce classroom materials and lessons.
• Work under the direction of a certified teacher to support student learning.
• Perform classroom and clerical tasks as needed to support staff.
• Supervise classrooms in emergencies and during independent work.
• Provide one-to-one or small-group tutorial assistance to students.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and maintaining classroom systems.
• Support behavior management and student encouragement.
• Assist with various duties as assigned throughout the school day.

Position Summary

To improve the educational program by assisting the instructional and administrative staff. The Teaching Assistant will assist full-time teachers, reinforcing materials and lessons covered in the classroom to facilitate student learning. Under the direction of a certified teacher, performs a variety of classroom, general, and clerical duties related to assisting a student.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Performs supportive instructional tasks under the direction of a certified staff member.
• Supervise classrooms in emergency situations.
• Monitors students during independent work activities and provides assistance as needed.
• Provides tutorial assistance to students in one-to-one or small group arrangements.
• Provides practice and reinforcement activities for students as follow-up to direct instruction provided by the classroom teacher.
• Assists in preparation of instructional materials
• Performs supportive behavior management tasks under the direction of a certified staff member.
• Assists in implementing the classroom behavior management system as designed by a certified staff member.
• Provides emotional support and encouragement to students.
• Assists in the supervision of students throughout the school day (e.g., provides support services within regular classroom, loading/unloading of buses, lunch, recess, restroom, movement throughout the school building).
• Assists certified staff with clerical duties as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
