Job summary

Equitas Academy Charter Schools in Los Angeles seeks a dedicated teacher to deliver rigorous instruction across subjects in a high-engagement setting.

You'll start around 7:15–7:30am, finish by 3:15–3:30pm, and receive collaborative coaching, with opportunities to grow into Grade Level Lead, EL Teacher Leader, and Induction Mentor roles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Current credential or out-of-state equivalent required.
• English Learner authorization required.
• Belief that all students can succeed is essential.
• Experience with low-income communities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead rigorous instruction across math, reading, phonics, writing, science, and social studies.
• Deliver prepared materials aligned to our curriculum.
• Communicate with families about student progress and behavior.
• Maintain high academic and behavioral expectations.
• Demonstrate warm-demander instructional approach with students.
• Engage in restorative practices for classroom community.
• Begin day with a team huddle and end after dismissal; daily prep and duty-free lunch.
• Participate in weekly grade-level meetings and ongoing PD.
• Attend IEP/SST/504 meetings as scheduled.
• Support school culture and student learning in various duties.

A Day in Your Life as an Equitas Teacher:

• Lead rigorous instruction in all contents in your classroom including math, reading, phonics, writing, science, social studies, and morning meeting.
• Deliver instructional materials that you have prepared based on our rigorous and aligned curriculum.
• Communicate and collaborate with families regarding the behavior and academic progress of their student.
• Maintain high academic and behavioral expectations for students.
• Demonstrate a warm demander style with scholars in the classroom and school community.
• Approach class community building and repair with culturally responsive and restorative practices.
• Start your day by 7:15/7:30am with a school team huddle and end at 3:15/3:30pm (depending on school campus) after scholar dismissal.
• Daily prep time and a duty-free lunch period.
• Weekly collaborative grade level team meeting.
• Regular 03 (one-on-one meeting and feedback session) with your coach or supervisor.
• Supervise and facilitate portions of Community Meeting (our school assembly) weekly on Friday.
• Attend IEP, SST, and 504 meetings as scheduled.
• Active participation in weekly professional development aimed at refining both school culture and academics.
• Perform other duties to support our students and school community.

What You'll Need:

• A Bachelor's degree
• A current Multiple Subject teaching credential (internship, preliminary, or clear) or out of state equivalent required
• English Learner authorization
• A strong belief that all students can succeed
• Demonstrated experience and success working with students in low-income communities (preferred)
