Job Description

Position Title: Elementary School Nurse (LPN)

Reports To: District Nurse and/or Building Principal

Qualifications

• Valid state licensure as Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), as required by the district
• Current CPR and First Aid certification
• Previous pediatric, school, or community health experience preferred
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA and HIPAA regulations

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care and first aid to students
• Assess and respond to student illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and district policy
• Maintain accurate and confidential student health records
• Monitor and manage chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, allergies, and seizures
• Implement individualized healthcare plans as needed
• Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns and follow-up care
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to address student health needs
• Ensure compliance with state health regulations and district policies
• Maintain inventory and proper storage of medical supplies and equipment
