Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is seeking an elementary school counselor for the 2026-2027 school year. Immediate starting date; assignments and locations to be determined as positions become available.

Qualifications

• Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teacher’s License with appropriate endorsement as a school counselor, PreK-12 or equivalent.
• Earned master’s degree in counseling with an emphasis in school counseling.
• Demonstrate ability to support students by cooperatively working with parents/guardians and teachers.
• Integrate technology into classroom instruction to enhance learning.
• Utilize Google Drive for instructional purposes, collaboration, and managing coursework.
• Create and maintain an inclusive, supportive learning environment that respects the diverse backgrounds and needs of all students.
• Communicate effectively with strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Engage and collaborate effectively with parents and families.
• Collaborate with other teachers and contribute to a positive team environment.
• Demonstrate dependability, punctuality, and reliability in fulfilling responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• The School Counselor will assist students with problems and decisions involved in understanding themselves and the world in which they live.
• Assist students in making decisions about their future schooling and occupational interests.
• Serve as a resource for parents/guardians, teachers, and other adults involved with the students.
